U-Pilot Headland Management System makes headland maneuvers simple

11/06/2005

Headlands, areas along the edges of fields where the tractor and implement is turned ready for another run up the field is an area where time can be lost while the driver spends valuable time controlling the implement and tractor. The U-Pilot Headland Management System has been developed to help drivers in these tricky situations.

Valtra’s U-Pilot Headland Management System allows often repeated manoeuvres to be programmed and saved. Each program, consisting of up to 30 operations, can then be activated whenever needed. The system is controlled by two switches: The Off/On/Record switch is situated in the B pillar and the Start/Stop switch in the driver’s armrest. The Proline instrument cluster is used to display which operations are being activated and notify possible malfunctions. The programme is stored permanently until it is removed or a new programme is stored in its place.

The following tractor operations can be controlled by the U-Pilot system: the three-point linkage, two external hydraulic valves, four-wheel-drive, the differential lock, PTO (front/rear), cruise control, Powershift, and DIN electrical connectors. A pause can also be programmed into the system.

Valtra’s U-Pilot Headland Management System will be offered as standard equipment on T180 and T190 tractors by the beginning of 2006. U-Pilot Headland Management System significantly reduces the amount of repetitive work needed on the headland, increasing productivity while reducing fatigue. The system also reduces the risk of human error.
